Hi, I recently bought a 250 GB Western Digital portable external hard drive. Before using it, I want to know basics on data backup and encrypting. I scoured over last 10 issues of digit but I did not find any articles on this issue.
My idea of having external drive is for data backup as my hard drive is limited (60GB) and I have all data backed up on CDs/DVDs and searching files through all of them take ages.
Is there a multi-purpose software
that is also a freeware, which can automatically back up data, ask for encryption.
There are some software which I came across, which one among them is good?
please suggest based on your own experience, these are:
Drive Encryption, Rohos mini, Bestcrypt, Truecrypt , keyparc, FreeOTFE
Is it possible that the entire disk be password protected, without encrypting the contents inside. I mean, when it is plugged to usb port, one should be prompted with password to access the hard disk contents.
