save updates

hi everyone.
i want to know where the windows updates are stored [downloaded via automatic updates]. i want to save update install files on secure media i.e CD so that if in case i need to reinstall vista or use system restore, i don,t need to download them again. i want want to save vista service pack 1.

please guide...

U can download the Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone installer from the Microsoft Download Center itself.

Vista SP1 -x86 : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/i...-X86-wave0.exe

All the other updates can also be downloaded from MSDC using their KB number. Check the respective KB from the Automatic Update window and search for them in MSDC to download standalone installers.
