Default Techies plz review this OS

ReactOS

If you hate Windows, your monopoly, your security bugs, and all
whole Micro-soft, here is a new OpenSource alternative: ReactOS...

ReactOS is an Open Source effort to develop a quality operating system
that is compatible with Micro-soft Windows(R) applications and drivers.

One day we'll not need to use Windows anymore, meanwhile, try this...

My personal opinion is that this isn't bad to be a clone of Windows NT.
Needs a little bit of development (especially in the GUI), but the
kernel is mostly finished, and many applications are working fine...

Test it, and share your opinion here (and spread the word)...

Actual Version: ReactOS v0.2.6 Release - Only ~10MB ! [April 10, 2005]
- More Info, Forums, Downloads (Official): http://www.reactos.com/

- ScreenShots: http://www.sky.franken.de/explorer/screenshots.html

Attention: If you try it in a Virtual Machine (VMware, Virtual PC),
it will run slowly. Better use the LiveCD, and test directly in your
machine (without needing to install it).

I'M NOT MEMBER OR DEVELOPER OF THIS PROJECT, I ONLY SHARE THIS INFO WITH YOU COZ FOUND IT ON OTHER FORUM

i had installed reactos on my pc some months ago (i dont remember its version number though).
well, first of all it installed in a folder on one of my fat32 partitions. it added an option to boot into it along with winxp and win98 which was installed on my pc.
it was highly unstable. its explorer crashed at very simple actions. it did provide a taskmanager (which cudnt be used on explorer crashes and sometimes, even the taskmgr crashed too), a command prompt and a registry editor at that time.
it reminded me of windows 95 or windows 3.1. looked more like a 16-bit OS then. well, i cant figure out the actual cause of poor and ugly display, maybe it was the OS, or maybe i needed appropriate drivers.

btw, the new screenshots looks good, i might give it a try again.

I tried out the live cd, and yes it was unstable ... however it does look promising, but till it becomes stable enough, linux with wine is probably a better option.
