will too much of disk partitions affect hard-drives???

hi everybody,
am usin a lappy with the drive capacity of 160 GB...And my collections ranges from muic to documents to movies to documents to multiple OS...So,ive got myself more than 9 partitions (pretty insane I know !!!)...and one of my friend opined me to NOT to have so much of partitions otherwise it may stress disk hampering its overall performance in the long run...Is he true or its just another computer myth???

insted having your OS in a smaller partition improves performance.

No..I really doubt that it will have any significant impact
Anyways 9 partitions ain't that insane. . U can hit a lot more without thinking.

what is annoying abt these friends is that they will give a u techincal reasoning as well and with such confidence.
