What about adwares................. Avast doesn't scan for adwares............... Use Ad-Aware SE to scan your computer and use registry fixing tools such as registry mechanic......................

Does that happen at every Shutdown?
Boot in SAFE Mode, and then shut down, do you get "Stop" error? If, not try reinstallin/upgrading video, audio, modem drivers.

@bharthbala2003, try this. Go to Start> Run and type services.msc. Here navigate to Terminal Services and disable it.

The long time taken for windows could be due to the cleaning of the page file by windows on exit. This is done for security reasons . In tweakXp there is a setting to disable it.

Have you tried disabling "Terminal Services"
Go to Start> Run and type services.msc and press ENTER. Here navigate to Terminal Services and disable it.

well its better not to do it because it decreases the shut down time

meanwhile i will give another registry tweak. this will reduce the time to kill processes

go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l

change the value of WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 1000 or something
