Default Nokia 9500/SE P900 or Laptop+Normal mobile ? PLease Suggest

.
Please suggest / recommend a good mobile phone for me

Requirement - I just can't go offline for more than 24 hrs ! So basically I need EDGE + GPRS + Bluetooth . Organizer + calendar + alarm etc r also required . ( function to make and receive phone calls will be nice lol ) . Need not be very small , I mean bit big screen is ok . Need not b too flashy . I'm not a gamer , vedio cam is not that important too . Basically a business phone I think .

I was thinkin like whether I should buy a basic EDGE phone + laptop or should I go for a smart phone instaed ? What do u think ?

I really loved the Nokia 9500 and SE P900 ( no , I didn't buy any lol , from websites and from reviews ) . Is there any other phones with similar functions ?

Also whatabout the service of these smart phones ? Any ideas ? Like if its a laptop or a PC its ok , but there r lot service centers for mobiles ? I am from cochin , Kerala

Please post your suggestions / comments / recommnendations

Thanks in advance

Din, even u postin general discussions?

Hmm..., reagarding the "EDGE + GPRS + Bluetooth . Organizer + calendar + alarm etc" phone go for Nokia 9500, it's a lot better than p910i/p900.

Between check out my review of 9500 here..
http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12807

And there is a more phones for EDGE+GPRS+bluetooth:
6630
7710
8800 (yet to be released)

hmmm, IMO get a EDGE phone + a lappy.
No matter how feature rich ur mob is, u cant replace a lappy.

Hmm..., as far as nokia service centres is considered, it's there at cochin. Chack out nokia's india website for address and other details.

.
drgrudge , really sorry for postin it in the general section instead of the hardware section , actually I forgot it . And WOW , ur review is really cool . Very professional and I liked it very much . Nice work man .

And yes , I checked the 6630 , loved that too , but the thing I liked in 9500 is the big screen ! ( LOL , all r goin for smallest mobiles and Din just the reverse ! ) .

Yes , I agree nothin can replace a lappy , I'm also thinkin like whatabout a lappy + N 6230 , Hmm , but still confused !

drgrudge , u tried goin oinline in 9500 ? Just wanna know how easy / difficult it is while goin online . Price is 34.5K now , hmmm

Also , another doubt is y all ( majority atleast ) go for Nokia ? Is it coz Nokia has the best functionalities etc ? Or the support ? Or its just the brand name ? Whenever I ask someone , all says - Go for Nokia . I guess SE or other has no mobiles havin all functionalities of 6630 / 9500 etc . Am I wrong ?

PS : Mods , plz move this to hardware section , again sorry bout it .

hmmm 9500 costs rs. 35k and 6630 costs only 23k , remember that.
Also 9500 has two LCD's compared to 6630's one.

Hmm.. lappy + 6230 is a good option
lappy = rs. 30k-35k (approx)
6230 = 12k

nokia 9500 costs rs. 35k..., so i'll say lappy is beter than 9500.

Hmm..., ya GPRS browing of WAP sites..., it's beeter than i wht i do with 6610. We have internet explorer in 9500, but we need network support for the same.

So if u want to go for emails and browsing, then AIRTEL blackberry is the phone for u. We get all the network support of airtel for rs. 1200 a month.

Hmm... , nokia is a good brand name, there is no doubt about it. It has 35% market share in India.

Now see...
1. Nokia has EDGe phone (in india), do any other phone firms has it?
2. nokia has symbian phones for as cheap as 8k , do any other phone firms has it?
3. Express on covers
4. more nokia care centers (service centers)
5. nokia has 3G phones
ETC ETC...
IMO Nokia is the best....

Din, I have a laptop+N6230 combo!! Just a coincidence though. My laptop isn't portable (weighs a hefty 10 pounds) but I wanted a desktop replacement anyway. Now see, a laptop+phone combo will definitely cost you more than just a 9500. But as grudge said, no matter what phone you get, you cannot match up to the power of a laptop.

yeah yeah yeah stop showin off...im not even gona open a thread like that dude...eventhough it wont change my opinion bout anything but whatever
and btw i figured 2 things that make Nokia phones "LOSER'S" for me...
1) BIG BULKY AND UGLY!!!
2)Screens not upto the mark...still using 65k..whereas most companies have upgraded to 256k(like samsung in my favourate D500...in which by the way EDGE can be enabled by a lil' firware upgrade coz its got the hardware for it )

.
Hello I'm not an expert and not arguin for or against nokia , but one thing I came to know from sites etc is that human eyes can't distinguish between 256k colors and 65k colors .
And I think nokia has phones that r not bulky , most big screen / bulky phones of nokia r business phones and for the business user its useful ( just my opinion )

LOL, so u say 29% of total world's total nokia phone owners are losers? Or 35% of our own India.
Still nokia sells more phone than ur fav. samsung both in India or elsewhere.

Only some phones are big..., they may not be ugly. It's personal opinions.
Some ppl may not like D500 (ur fav.) as it is a flip phone...

Hmm..., thats the problem with other phone manufactures...u will have to firmware upgrade it.
Also nokia has started making 256k color phones, from 6681

ok dude firstly CHILL...i dint say anything to you cept the showin off bit..
secondly i dint call the people who buy nokia's loser...i called their phone's 'losers' cozza the reasons ive already stated...but then thats my opinion...and the opinion of most people who like stylish phones..
Samsung isnt my favourate brand..its one of my favourates cozza their new phones...one might interest you...sliding symbian D720 ..uve prolly heard bout it
and dude samsung D500 is not a 'flip' phone as uve been calling it...its a 'SLIDE' or 'SLIDING' phone...flip phones and clamshell's are the same...and i havent met a single person till date who does not like a 'sliding' phone...but then again...boils down to personal preferences..
Updating firmware is like updating windows XP ...cept u cant do it at home w/o voiding the warranty...
yeah their first 256k color phone almost after 10 months since the first one was launched.
and btw how come nokia has never ever launched a 3G phone with video calling capabilities till now(6680)..even the 6630 dosent have video calling capability rite? whereas motorola and sonyericsson launched theirs about a year and a half back(not in india ofcourse)...soz that kinda rings a bell into my head...

Hmm..., some may like the leaf/diamond shape of 7600, and some may not..., similarly some may not like these flip/sliding phones like D500. Some still like the usually BAR shape..., it boils down to personal perference. But most of the ppl like sliding phones more than clampshell or
the usuall ones.

Hmm.. what ever, i knew it, i only posted in the D500 review thread as well, remember? Just got confused and one other fellow too posted like i need a flip phone like samsung d400/410/500.
And i can tell u, u will meet a person who might not like sliding phones. Wait and see

Nokia had 3g phones in India long time ago, 7600. Even now SE don't have 3g phones in India. Evenin the UK, they have only a few models when compared to nokia.
So it's no use talking abt video calling capabilities now. also i belive it's a network dependent feature, is it not? The same thing holds for Push to talk features, many nokia has has this feature but we dont have this feature supported by our networks.

I never had any trouble with BT. I used it successfully with a SE T630. I bought my phone this January so maybe it came with the new BT module.
