Some Overclocking i tried with my new A64 !!

Hey guys,i tried some overclocking on my new board+cpu.

Hope you guys like it.









My Total Setup was as following -

Asus A8N-E Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ [939 Pin,Winchester Core]
256 x 2 Generic Hynix DDR RAM modules based on Hynix D43 chips
40GB Seagate Cuda
300 Watt KPPL PSU

XFX Gefore 6200TC 256 MB Grafix card
Gigabyte 52X CD-RW

Cooling for CPU - Stock with AS5 applied
Cooling For Chipset - Stock with AS5 applied

Hey darky that are pretty impressive figures.

And that RAM overclocking i am stunned and the BW provided is
absolutely awesome.

Did you get a new mobo what happened to ur a8n sli.

Which Ram's are you using because i am shocked at the extent they have overclocked.

Are they normal Hynix DDR 400 PC3200 RAM's
how much did they cost you Single DDR 400 Chip 256MB.

What are these "Hynix D43 chips" is it something special.

Will i be able to overclock it to same frequencies using 512MB module
of the same company.

The Ram overclocking has impressed me a lot , can these figures be
reached on a ASUS A8N Sli.

Is this the XFX 6200TC 256MB card


How much did it cost you & can you let me know the 3DMarks 2003 &
2005 score with that card.

nice one darklord. Man i can never get my CAS timings to go so low. Right now its a 6-3-3-2.5 and I cant get it lower than that...And how does one increase the frequency by the way ?

Well i am using Normal Hynix RAM
Yes it is the normal Hynix DDR400.
I got 4 x 256 MB Sticks and each cost me 1700/-

It is the model No. of the Dram IC.

Will i be able to overclock it to same frequencies using 512MB module

Yes you should be able to do so.

Yes it can be.Infact i was not concentrating on RAM tweaking as i targetted CPU overclock more.
I tried OC'ing Only the RAM on A8N SLI and i achieved 295.7MHz on it.

How much did it cost you & can you let me know the 3DMarks 2003 &
2005 score with that card.

Well my card is slightly different.
I havent tried benchmarking it,will let you know asap.The card cost me 4k.

297.5Mhz thats absolutely rocking boy i cant even imagine a normal
hynix ram reaching 297.5 i am not able to believe.

Was this 1:1 overclocking on the A8N Sli.
What verson of asus a8n Sli bios are you using.

Yes i did it 1:1,how else do you expect me to reach those speeds,it has to be 1:1.
I am using 1006 Final release BIOS.
Also default Vdimm is 2.6V i had to up it to 3.0V to reach there.I had to relax the timings too.

can you let me know a few exact figures.

- What are the exact ram timings all 4
- Was the command rate at 2T or 1T
- What sort of memory BW did you get in Sandra
- did you run memtest86 to check ram stability if yes for how long.

ASUS A8N Sli actually has a problem with 1:1 overclocking over 250Mhz
with Dual Channel DDR Rams at 1T Command Rate it has to be changed
to 2T to go above 250Mhz 1:1.
This ASUS problem has not yet been solved even in the latest 1007 Bios.

Lastly where did you get Mushkin DDR Ram from and how much for it.

Are OCZ DDR400 PC3200 Plat Rev 2 Rams available here , because
they overclock like hell.

I will give screenshots to clarify the timings query.

It was obviously @ 2T [Kept it to Auto i guess]
I didnt run any benchmarks as it was a suicide screenshot.
No i didnt run memtest86.

Also i know that its running in single channel and @ 2t,but i was trying this for the first time with that RAM,so was a bit cautious.Now that i am confident that it OC'es well,i will try dual channel and try to run some benchies.

There are D43 chips in 512 MB sticks also.
No there are numerous Hynix Models.The ones that OC well are D43 & D5
The model No. on the Dram IC,there is a long model no.at the end there is a "-" in between and then there are 2 letters,which is either "D43" or "D5" or something else.

A friend bot it from Singapore and i bot it from him.
I got 2 sticks each of 256 MB.I purchased it from him for 6k.

Afaik they arent available.Only Corsai series is available.

I dont mind if you are willing to experiment anything on your system. I would be glad to be of any help if anyone is serious in giving a serious shot at some extreme overclocking.

Can you overclock with 1T and let me know how much does the Hynix
Ram reach please i mean the max HTT Speed.

So i can get a good idea of its max htt speed.

You think i dont know that ? And for your information,it is 240HTT and not 250HTT.

I bet its 250 i read at AnandTech Forums and many people there have
reached 250Mhz 1:1 at 1T. Ram used OCZ Plat Rev2 PC3200 DDR400

do confirm the exact model number on the Hynix DDR400 Chips having the D43.

Amoung D43 & D5 which overclocks better.

Awoesome overclocking Darklord , BTW , how long was the machine stable ? Because i dont see any special cooler in the system , or a high end PSU.

I see that the RAM is running at almost 280Mhz DDR ie at 560Mhz that is nearly impossible for a normal Hynix Ram.
Even transcend Rams fail 2 acheive such an exhaustive Overclcock
