Default how does athlon64 fx outperfrom p4 ee with less cache

well, this is a question i've been pondering over for quite some time

how does the new athlon 64 fx-55 outperform the P4 EE in so many aspects.
i mean, the P4 EE has 2 MB L2 cache while the athlon64 has only 1 MB L2 cache. both are 64-bit.

the p4 is faster even in fsb speeds (having an 800 mhz fsb compared to the 400 of amd). how?????? is the question. is it the motherboard or what?

The running of the cpu integrated memory controller at cpu speed in the AMD chip requires lesser cache and this is the main reason for its good performance. This fact is best utilised in the amd opteon cpu s where multiple cpu have there own dedicated memory and these setups beat the zeon servers by a great margin.

Well in laymans term how amd beats Pentium
Ans:- AMD does more work per clock cycle than Pentium thats where it beats.

Technical Details
- AMD has onboard DDR Ram controller no Northbridge chip which means
faster BW for memory.
- AMD has Hyper Transport of 800x2 = 1600Mhz & 1000x2= 2000Mhz

And you can google also there is lots to read to exactly understand how.

ALL THE AMD PROCESSORS WORKS IN THE +VE AND _VE HALF CYCLES OF A SIGNAL WHILE INTEL WORKS ON +VE HALF CYCLE ONLY..SO 1INTEL = 1/2 AMD.

HE HEHH
AMD RULES....
