well firstly try loading XP in safe mode

and remove all the entries from the startup

start>run>msconfig>Startup

so is there any other OS installed on it?

if the windows has bee messed up too much, then use their recovery cd or else do a fresh install manually, if this doesnt help

hav u used the restore cd ? it restorz the laptop to factory settings (like when you got it)

but remember, if u do so, u will lose all ur data

if u got sum really important stuf, u can use a boot disk 2 start ur pc in dos and use FLOPPY drives to back it up

if theres too much data and its really very important and u can go any lengths to keep it, do this:

1.start it using a bootdisk in DOS
2.install sum old version of windows like 98 or ME
3.then using a network or cd writer, backup your data
4.use the RESTORE cd
