Question Sony PSP Queries

Hey Guys,
I need some information abt Sony PSP
I guees, its latest price is approx Rs.8990/-

But....

1.) Is a 1-GB Memory card enough if i plan to save videos and/or movie files on it ?
2.) How many games can i save/load from the 1-GB Memory card (not considering the movies saved on it) ?
3.) Is modding a good option for the PSP (related to overheating or life span of the PSP) ?
4.) The movie files and many other kind of files present on Torrents for the PSP are ready playable on an Original PSP or a Modded PSP is reqd. ?

Cheers n e-peace....

1. It depends on how many of them you wanna store.

2. IF you are talking about ISOs then all the latest games are arounf 1.2GB to 1.5GB. Older games are between 500-900MB. Savegame files are around 250KB each.

3. What do you mean by modding? If custom firmware, then no problem at all.

4. Movies encoded for PSP can be played on Original PSP. No Custom firmware required. You can convert any video and play on PSP.

^^

well,
1.) I was asking abt the saved games size that wud occupy space on the 1 GB mem card(sorry for not mentioning it in the first post)..

2.) Will d/loaded movies/video files from torrents (internet) work on Original PSP ?

3.) Modded PSP (AFAIK) is sumthing to do more with changing the circuit inside rather than the firmware.. (if any one has a clear idea plz do add) ..

Cheers n e-peace...

in order to play downloaded games, make sure you buy the old psp and not the new slim one as then you need to use pandora's battery to play games from memory stick and it is a complicated procedure. buy a old fat psp and make sure that the firmware version is 3.50 or less. then you will be able to use custom firmwares from m33 and play iso games. and there is no need to mod a psp, the custom firmware will do the trick

Don't even bother to buy a Phat PSP. Either way you will have to mod the battery in order to install custom firmware and play ISOs unless you know someone who already has PSP with custom firmware installed. Else, be prepared to buy a spare battery.

1. ~250KB for each savegame file. Nothing to worry about.

2. Yes.

3. Modding involves some manipulation with PSP battery circuit which ultimately allows to install custom firmware. If you are noob about circuits, forget about doing it by yourself.

like amitava said you have to mod the battery or you need a psp which has custom firmware to play iso's in the slim model, but in the phat one you just have to change the firmware considering ur original firmware is 3.50 or less

Again you are giving wrong information. Regardless which PSP you have, you need a Modded PSP battery. Phat PSP with 3.50 firmware is not going to help you. You think Sony is stupid enough to let you put any firmware in their device without checking its integrity and genuineness?

Amitava, get your facts right before you snapping at other people.

Phat PSP can be modded WITHOUT the need of Pandora's battery. Please look around a bit before you go around trashing other people's claim.

Only PSP Slim requires the Pandora's batter as of now, to be modded with custom firmware.

Ok, looks like I'm bit wrong provided if u managed to get a Phat PSP with certain combinations of Motherboard and firmware.

But still I'd suggest a Slim since It has double amount of RAM and TV out. TV out is big plus if you want to enjoy games on a bigger screen.

So, I want to be able to play the PSP games (connected with the TV out) on a 29" Sony Flat tv, will the SLIM PSP give a good resolution ?? (i already hv a ps2, tats y asking as compared to a PS2's comparison)...

@Amitav: Irrespective of the model, you can downgrade the fat PSP without the need of Pandora battery.

@ashu: Yes, you can play the game on your LCD but the resolution wont be that good. There will be jaggies and the image will be stretched.

Also you will lose out on all kinds of homebrew support with the slim PSP.

Homebrew support as in independent developers have come out with hundreds of software specifically developed for PSP Fat that add tonnes of functionality to the gadget.

Just run a google search for it and you will understand what I mean by that.
