Red face IP Address / Port Issue

Hi All,

I have notice a very weird issue wrt my pc. When i do an "ipconfig /all", my ip address turns out to be 192.168.30.xxx

However, when i go to grc.com to check my ports n stuff it says the IP is 203.93.56.xxx

Even utorrent says my ip is
203.93.56.xxx.
How is this possible??

Also, how do i open a port on my PC? I have tried adding custom rules through Windows Firewall, but grc.com still says my port is closed???!!!

Please help me here!!

Thanks!

192.168.30.xxx => Lan IP/Your PC IP, Provided "by" ur router
203.93.56.xxx => Internet IP Provided "To" ur router "by" ur ISP.
U need to read utorrent's help guide for port forwarding and u can simply turn off windows firewall. Its useless anyways!

^by snapshot it seem that 203.92.56.45 is the firewall/router from which traffic enters Public network. You have to identify the router type whose interface is assigned this IP, and then refer to portforward.com to learn how to forward a port.

Use Advanced Port Scanner to scan ports on 203.92.56.45 to find out if someports are already opened.

Nope "203.92.56.45" is the bangalore gateway as it seems.

@Rakesh : Have u tried opening "192.168.30.1" from other browsers?

On a second thought, do u really have a router installed at ur place or are u using a rented line shared by other people as well?

gateways can be any layer-3 device. So when I said firewall/router I meant 203.92.56.45 is the interface IP of router/L3switch from where traffic enters Public network.

192.168.30.1 is the intranet IP of gateway for 192.168.30.* network. All the traffic destined for internet first reaches 192.168.30.1 and then exist from 203.92.56.45. So try Port Scanner on 203.92.56.45. The chances are rare that opening 192.168.30.1 in browser will give anything.

It cud be, but checkout the first post. The sites show the IP as "203.93.56.xxx", whereas "203.92.56.45" is the 2nd hop. So don't u think "203.93.56.xxx" (which "might" be the WAN counterpart of 192.168.30.1) is in public network already?? Neways, I might be wrong too!

Give your PC 192.168.1.*. * and give default IP 192.168.1.1. If it is USB router, 192.168.1.2. These should be done in the local connection. Then you will be able to access your router.

Ram don't you think your explanation requires a revision as it seems very illogical

Hmm, I think that's a typo, as in tracert snapshot 203.93.*.* is not a hop. Btw where is Rakesh, we expect some input from him at this point

First I guess Rakesh needs to ensure that he is indeed having a router.
Most of the routers can be administered by just pointing almost all browsers to 192.168.1.1 .
And If u knw ur router model then u can go through tutorials at portforward.com to forward any port to ur pc..
