Default My battle between Dell and HP

I have zeroed in on these two laptop models. I will be using the laptop for basic work use, major movie watching, music, major video chatting and browsing. Minimal gaming.

Please suggest the best value for money laptop.

1. HP Pavilion dv6701AU Entertainment Notebook PC (KB177PA)
AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core 1.90 GHz, 512 KB + 512 KB L2 Cache
Windows Vista® Home Premium
1 GB RAM
160 GB SATA HDD
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7150M Video adapter
6 Cell battery
In-built webcam with mic
Carrycase.
One Year warranty
Biometric Finger Print scanner, Altec Lansing Speaker, Remote, Multimedia buttons, DVD Lightscribe writer
(and other features as mentioned in the HP website for above model)

This HP Laptop is priced at Rs. 40,445 inclusive of all taxes.

2. Dell Inspiron(TM) 1525 Laptop
Intel Core2 Duo Processor T5450 1.66 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB
Windows Vista Home Premium - with AERO experience
1 ExpressCard Slot, (DOES NOT SUPPORT PCMCIA CARDS)
2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
Intel(R) Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
160GB SATA Hard Drive
In-built 2 MP webcam
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell(TM) Nylon Backpack
2 Years Complete Cover Accidental Damage Protection Warranty
Special offer till 29 Feb 08: Pair of Dell Bluetooth Headphones Free.

This Dell Laptop is priced at Rs. Rs 50,853.87 inclusive of tax

If you have any other model in mind than the above two, please do suggest. This is my first laptop and for me its a heavy investment. So help me make the right choice.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Ashwin S

I guess if you opt not to go in for BT headset you can configure the same laptop for better value for money.

7150 gfx I believe has separate 256 MB graphics RAM.

And Bluetooth headset is being given free of cost till this month end....

My doubt is which is better.....going for the HP system at 40K or Dell at 50K

HP shares RAM, and fingerprint scanner is total waste unles you are a X-files kind of paranoid. .

as for lightscribe i think the media are still expensive.

i have the same laptop HP and i am not that satisfied.
