Is your budget of 40-50k without the monitor or speakers ? Seems obviously so from your post, but I wanted to make sure before I or anyone else come up with suggestions. (Some people do get careless with their wording and make silly misleading posts

Go for AMD64 - best for gaming and multimedia!!!! 8)

By the way in multimedia if r going to do encoding and that stuff then go for intel, but mind u intel will cost u a bomb

By my considerations go for AMD64 3000+ (939 socket)

A good mobo - (other freaks here will help u in that )

A pcie 6600GT graphics card or something powerful like that

AMD 64 3200+ 9.6k
Asus A8N Sli 12k
Trancend 1Gb 6k
Seagate 160Gb SATA 5k
Creative SB Live 5.1 sndcard - 2k
XFX/Leadtek 6600GT - 10.5k

Total = 45k Later on you can go with another 6600GT and SLI it and get squeeze more performance outta it. Or else get a 6800GT but its gonna cost you arnd 25k.

AMD 64 3200+ 9.6k
Asus A8V - 8k
Trancend 1Gb 6k
Seagate 160Gb SATA 5k
Creative SB Live 5.1 sndcard - 2k
XFX/Leadtek 6800GT - 24k
Total = 54k

This one will be a uber |337 gaming rig for quite some time

Yes the budget is 40-50k.Plz make sure the machine is future proof for atleast 1year.
blade_runner your given config is good, but i have stereo speakers so i think i dont need 5.1 ch sound card.So i can spend more money on motherboard, hard disk,Graphic card is fine

Yeah the a8v will get you through this one year easily. Get the 6800Gt for better performance.

but if you don't play on higher than 1280 or 1024*768,then geforce 6600gt will do you satisfactory performance, though it will sure loose to g6800gt
