How malware sites make their site as our homepage ?

Hi All,
Hope this new yr turns every1's dream a reality and now my Question.

I have witnessed a few sites(malware & porn) etc., where once u we visit the site OR click some links the PC is infected with some kinda malware,I would like to know more about it.i understand doing that for a illegal cause is certainly not the rite cause,but, i m curios to know how it is done and want to learn how i can prevent myself,by knowing more about it.

And toolkits like Mpack and beEF are some i jus adore all time,requesting you to kindly throw in your thoughts,eagerly waiting for replies.Is there any chances for some tutorials available for it ? it would be great,i would like to know how i can build such a site in local intranet(not porn though hehehe)
