Default AVG

GO TO START>>SETTINGS>>CONTROL PANEL>>ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMMS

REMOVE AVG FROM THERE

DO NOT RESTART

GO TO THE FOLDER WHERE YOU SAVED AVG .....REMOVE IT

NOW RESTART YOUR PC AND AGAIN INSTALL IN A NEW FOLDER WITH DIFFERENT NAME THAN EARLIER

IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED THERE ARE SOME DLL FILES LEFT SAVED IN THE FOLDER WHERE YOU INSTALLED AVG EVEN AFTER UNINSTALLATION OF AVG ...........DELETE ALL OF THEM AND THEN RESTART AND REINSTALL

Try to re-downlod the installation file and try again. Maybe that might help as the error says "AVG Installation Damaged....."

I assume you re using the latest version of AVG i.e. AVG 7 and not AVG 6 thats support was discontinued on 31st Dec 2004, right?

There is something which is damaging the internal virus database.
Download and run McAfee Stinger.

Also, post the HijackThis log file.

Are you by any chance using a dual-boot system with both OS'es in the same partition, with AVG installed in the same default directory for both OS'es ?

Even if you have the OS'es in diff partitions, if you happen to install AVG in the same directory, say C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free, it will probably cause the problem you stated every time you switch OS'es.

I have not taken the time to trace the source of the problem yet, but it's probably that AVG overwrites certain file(s) each time it does a scan.

Log is ok, do this and post back.
1] Uninstall AVG from Add/Remove Programs.
2] Delete Grisoft Folder in Program Files Directory.
3] Delete Grisoft and/or AVG folder in Application Data Folder.
4] Then Restart.
5] Install AVG again.
Check for the error messages.

You have the above folder, isnt it?
D:\Program Files\Grisoft\
Delete that Grisoft Folder, after uninstallin AVG from Control PAnel.

And, if you want NAV 2003 to work in XP, then you have to install NAV2003 from WinXP.
You can NOT use the NAV installed from Win98, in WinXP by simply creating it's shortcut.
That is, if a software is to work in an OS, you have to install it from that OS only.

As for AVG, reboot and install AVG from WinXP only.

what is the size of the AVG installation file? AVG will have virus databse with it, and after installation it only says that "internal database is out of date".
But, you are getting "No internal virus database"?
