Ok follow the steps........

1.Boot into windows 2000 and go to system properties Advanced Startup and recovery and choose windows 2000 as a default operating system and uncheck display list of operating system for 30 seconds........now u can't boot into win 98

2.Now if u have windows 98 boot disk or floppy....boot throght it.......and choose start computer with cd rom support option and on the command line type ur floppy drive letter or cd rom letter...... Example "a:" and then press enter if u have floppy and if ur CD letter is "g" type "h:" and hit Enter...............Then type "format c:" and label it as DUMP or whtever.....

OR I think u can also format with in the windows just right click which drive to format and then click format .

Restart now you have single OS and ur c: drive is formatted........

I think you will be able to format the C drive from windows explorer itself, just right click c: and format.

i think this is not simple!
Because Windows 200 places files reponsible for Windows 2000 in C:\ Drive. These files are :-
1] ntldr
2] ntdetect.com
3] boot.ini
and some other depending on Hardware config.
And, if you edit boot.ini and then format C:\, then these files will be deleted and you cant boot to Win2000 too. Because Microsoft MBR always boots to "Active Partition" and it must be Primary too.
So, MBR always boots to C:\ Drive and executes "Ntldr" and it reads the boot.ini and presents the options list.
If you foramt C:\ drive, "ntldr" will be gone, and you can't boot at all.

One solution is to keep the above mentioned System files in C: drive and delete all othe contents of C: drive.

or another one is to keep the above mentioned files in C:\ drive as it is, and then using softwares such as Partition Magic, move the content of E:\ (Win2000 drive) to C:\ drive, with all the references being updated by the Partition Magic. And then edit boot.ini to alter the path for system folder of Win2000.

but, these two are untested!!!!

or, format both C:\ drive and E:\ drive (after backing up data), and then install Win2000 in C:\ drive

what!!!! it was a TYPO. it should be read as " if you edit boot.ini and then format C:\, then these files will be deleted and you cant boot to Win2000 too"
Edited in my above post.
