yea good buy but make sure that u have a service centre of the same near u
u have many choices of manufacturers, all offer 5 yrs warranty ..Samsung(5), Seagate(5) and WD (3) for the 7200 rpm ones buy the one which has a service centre near u in case something goes wrong

Some time back, Digit and PCQ hard disk reviews selected Maxtor as the best. But I have been using Samsung since quite some time and there has been no problem at all.
Proximity to a service center is not the only deciding factor, especially in a hard disk. That is a good criteria for rest of the parts. But HD is something that shouldn't require us to enforce the warranty

dang lost the message I was typing.
But I would not get Maxtor for Indian use. Get a samsung. not as fast or reliable but for Indian climate it runs much cooler. I personally have over 50 maxtor drives over the years even now. I once got a 500Megs one for US$5000 for a special project I was doing. I'll retype the message later since it was too long. |
