Lot of questions!
1)I have decided to get myself a phone this new year. My maximum budget is 25-30k. My pain use would be browsing the net, so my main priorities are- screen and performance. I think the iphone would suit me nicely. any other viable alternatives pls?
2)Is calling regular phones from voip possible? what is the simplest way?
3)Suggest me a provider with EDGE services and unlimited net usage in india.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Lot of questions!
I am using e61i and with it's qwerty kb and large screen it is THE machine for browsing. Airtel has the unlimited plans with edge. I have this rs. 500 p.m. plan in Hyderabad.

well, I think you can do those things in iPhone, once its firmware is updated.

Re: Lot of questions!
for voip there are many softwares for every wifi phone for gprs there are some like fring, there are other's also, now to connect to pstn with voip you need a pstn gateway, like you can use skype or other services like that.
if you want to use VoiP please let me know the phone and usage pattern, i will then suggest you some services.

Re: Lot of questions!
now a days i am using fring on the e61i, i even called a friend in prague using the gtalk, it worked. but the thing is that the connection was not good so was not a great expreiance, fring also allows you to use skype,
does any one has idea if airtel could reduce the bandwith used by a mobile phone. the first few days i used to get upto 20kbps on the phone while downloading some torrents (axxo movies) now i am hardly touching 10 and that too for a few sec far in between, though the torrent is not well supported i am getting slow speeds in usual inter net browsing as well.
i wonder what could be the reason...

Re: Lot of questions!
yes there is a problem as of now with fring and gtalk, yahoo even on wifi, i think this may be due to connectivity between servers for Google/yahoo and fring.
but when you use it between fring to fring or fring to sip it is working excellent.
