Default Computer hangs for a second

I have an Intel 865 Motherboard with an intel pentium 4 2.8 Ht processor. recently i installed 120 GB Hard Disk in addition to 40 Gb which i already had. I formatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP professional SP2. But i have been experiancing a problem since then . My computer stops for a second while i am doing anything. If i am listening to music the music will also stop and the mouse will also stop for a second and then resume normally . This happens continuously after a 1 min gap .

Please help

If the Computer does not hang Safe mode means, you may have too many services/processes running in background.
Perform Disk Defragmenter once, for all of the Drives.
Download McAfee Stinger and do a FULL System scan in SAFE Mode, and also post HijackThis log file, so that we can know if something bad is present!

If you want to know how to use HijackThis, see this link.

HijackThis log looks clean. Did you run Disk Defragmenter?
Also, is this problem started after installing second Hard Disk?
Also, go to BIOS and load the default settings once.

Well the bios flash from Intel is the easiest

get a UPS from someone for 5 mins

use the UPS only for the cabinet and connect the monitor directly to the mains to be on the safer side

and now run the setup of the bios update

just a matter of abt like 5 mins

well its just like installing a software and then the usual, would u like to restart ur pc
