Default messenger trouble!!

hi
i have a problem logging into yahoo messenger from windows ME.evrytime i log in i get the message that to view this page u need to download visual basic scripting support.but ven i try to download it,i get the message that download has failed,try later.y is this happening?
this problem dos not exist ven i log in to yahoo from windows XP.

another problem i'm having is tryin to log into gmail.this may seem funny but ven i try to log into gmail(in XP),windows explorer says that page cant be displayed.but i'm able to log into gmail from ME.

since i've got my email account in gmail,i havta go into ME to check it.after that i havta restart my comp to go to XP to log into Yahoo messenger.its damn bugging!!!

can nyone help?

Get HijackThis, and run a System scan in both the OSes (by booting into them seperately), and post the contents of TWO HijackThis log file, one for ME and another for XP.

Your Windows XP log file seems to be clean. Run HJT again, select the entries in red and click the Fix button. Also, reinstall the Adobe Reader application in Windows Me, as files related to that are missing. After, running the program, download and run CleanUp! and then re-run HJT and post a fresh log file here. Also, please mention if you deliberately installed the Free Download Accelerator and the Pictures Toolbar and you use them.

Also, download and install AdAware, SpyBot SnD and perform a FULL System scan using them. Both in ME and XP.

i already hav adaware.venever i run it in XP i find almost 20-25 adwares , malwarez etc etc .i'm using limewire.is this bcuz of that????

If you haven't installed Free Download Accelerator, then go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and then uninstall it. Re-run HJT and look to ensure that this entry does not exist once you uninstall it.

Well, P2P software have a tremendous problem with spyware and trojans, where some kookybirds upload all sorts of trash and downloading and running them will infect your PC. Always, scan your downloads with an antivirus before opening/installing them. To make sure you dont get infected with spyware/malware, install Spybot S&D and make sure you leave its System Protection (TeaTimer.exe) protection enabled at all times. This way, when you install a program that attempts to change something on the computer, you will be prompted to accept or deny the changes. If you're not sure of the program and if it should be changing anything, you can always Deny the change. Also, some P2P software clients themselvs come bundled with spyware. Limewire isn't one of them, however. You've to be more careful about the KaZaa programs.

Also, try to switch to another safer browser like Mozilla Firefox. I would highly recommend you do. As for your GMail problem, make sure JavaScript is enabled in Tools>Internet Options and also reset your web settings via the button there. (Internet Options>Programs>Reset web settings and Internet Options>Advanced>Restore Defaults.) Make sure your Internet security settings on the Security page is set to Medium and under Trusted Sites, click the Sites button and add *.google.com to the list. Also, if possible, check if the site opens with Firefox.

Yes, LimeWire is classified as Adware by CA eTrust and other major AntiSpyware firms. It's better you uninstall it.

You could have prevented this if you had Spybot S&D's TeaTimer protection running. Download Spybot S&D, and install it. When you install it, you will be given an option of "Enable system protection (TeaTimer.exe)" Select it and update your Spybot S&D library. Once its updated with the latest definitions, click the Immunize button on the left to go to the Immunize page. At the top you should notice a green Immunize button. Clicking it will give you a "All known bad products are currently blocked" message, indicating that it is protecting your system from known spyware. Also, when you install any software that changes your system settings, TeaTimer will pop up asking you to confirm or deny the change, so no program can change your settings without your permission, which can be denied with the 'Deny Change' button.
