Def. two 512 will be good for mb like D865GBF or above which support dual channel memory.

In synthetic test with AIDA, it show great improvement.

A Silly Doubt (No Doubt abt it......)

I have 256MB SDRAM(I Think) can I upgrade it to 512 MB DDR as it is
or shall I have to change the Motherboard?

Is there ant S/w that will run silently on the PC and return all the details abt the H/W & S/W that is opn the PC??

@prazad
what do u mean dude ?
u can get rid of ur 256 mb chip and get a new 512 mb chip
or u can get another 256 mb chip
all mobo's support atleast 2 ram slots . so it should be pretty easy to upgrade

Also 1Gb sticks are rare and cost more than 2*512Mb sticks. So makes perfect sense for going in for 2*512 sticks unless ur mobo doesnt have a lot of slots

raven...the guy has a SD RAM and is wondering if he can fit a 512 MB DDR RAM onto his modo. And actually itstwo seperate queries. The second one he is looking for is something like Sisoft Sandra.

@prazad
I dont think ur mobo will support DDR RAM. And hence a change in mobo might be the way to go. A 256 MB SD RAM module is quite expensive as they are very rare. So do take the things into consideration.

The second question, There is SisSoft Sandra which is available which will give you a detailed summary of your H/W. get it here :

@icecoolz,thatz what I meant. I had half a though abt not asking such a silly
doubt,but I guess I did and there it is

My PC is a HP Branded one and I still don't know whatz under the Hood
Jus' know that it has 256MB SDRAM and Win Xp runs pretty slow,esp with
the measly,puny,miserly 20GD HDD

So a Complete Upgrade of HDD,Motherboard etc is in the offing I guess.....

Thats ok Prazad. No question is silly. Better asked that regret it later on. As for finding out your motherboard and other information Sisoft Sandra will tell you or you can use cpu-z. Find it here:
