Again a wireless issue!!!! plz help guyzz...

Hello everyone ,

I have searched and read a few posts about wireless connectivity and internet sharing b/w a laptop and a desktop , but still i have a few queries .

1. I have a Laptop DELL XPS M1210 and A Desktop PC too .

2. I am having broadband from MTNL ( Unlimited plan ) . It is being operated with Modem UT-300 R2U . I am already sharing interenet connection on both my laptop and desktop through this modem only . i.e Desktop connected via. USB and laptop connected via. Ethernet !

3. Now i need to go wireless and set up a networking between my desktop and laptop for the purpose of sharing files and folders and also for sharing internet connection .

4. My desktop has to be at a fix place always so i can even connect it via. USB . It's not neccesary dat desktop should also be conncted wid wireless.

5. Plz tell me what all equipments do i need to buy to setup the desired network .

You'll need a wifi router... go for the Linksys WRT54G since you already have an ADSL modem.

simple....upgrade your modem from MTNL to wireless one.They will replace your current modem to wireless modem-cum-router.

I think currently you are paying RS. 50/- for modem rental..and wireless will have rental of Rs. 99/- per month.

Else, you can buy a wireless DSL modem cum router.

If not wi-fi router you can go with wi-fi lan card and make ad-hoc wireless lan with your pc and lappy just enable the ICS( internet connection sharing) option on your desktop..

But better solution is to go with Wi-Fi router..you will be happy and good for future updgradation
