Now I wish to add a 256 MB 400 (FSB/MHZ) DDR SDRAM module along with the old one, so I like to know that is it possible or if I do so, will my computer motherboard get affected or not?

Yes it will work, but sometimes you may face issues due to frequency inequality (133 MHz vs. 400 MHz).
