NETBIOS our NETwork Basic Input Output System was a commonly used protocol in networking !!
it is heavily superceded by TCP/IP now a days and DNS name resolution instead of WINS !!
leave that for now
it was basically for the topologies that were used then ! that is back in the 80's !!
