connection to wan miniport !!! :(

recently i had dis strange problem.... i hav bsnl bband.. whenever i tried to connect to internet thru my desktop, it displays followin msg " connecting to wan miniport (pppoe) " ...and it doesnt connect....the lights in router r same as those of old days. however if i connect the lan wire frm router to my laptop lan port, then it connects without any problems....
is there any chance day my desktop lan card is faulty and any way to determine it 4 sure????
i am postin dis thread thry my laptop currently...net workin fine on laptop, but not desktop...

Go to Network Connections and check if LAN or High-Speed Internet Connection icon says connected in the second line and the lan card model is quoted in the third line.

ya it says so.... i dnt knw if lan card is corrupted or not.. cant find any way to check it... did everything... luks fine...reinstalled drivers..nothing.

I get the same problem with my Airtel boradband with beetel modem. I just have to switch it off and on to make this work. Can't seem to get a proper explanation or solution to it... []

what is the error code?
try reinstalling the drivers

solved the problem.... opened cabinet...took lan card out of the pci slot...cleaned it and put it back again in the pci slot....workin fine now....
