Default help me fix this bug. a newbie! :(

hi,

i have a 512 MB DDr, P4 2.4 Ghz, intel 865 chipset and 32 MB inbuilt video card with windows MCE sp2 installed. since i own an unlimited internet connection, i stay online all times and also download all kinda stuffs.. the problem since then i hav been facing is,

1)when i shut down my computer at times, it logs off and then stands for hours saying "saving your settings" and never comes off that screen... i surmise that to be coz i have dl and uploaded lots of bytes or so. which it takes time to save.. but as long as 3 hrs.. i have put my system to save.. it doesnt.. how do i resolve this issue??

2)coz i loose my patience, i reset the system, the problem mentioned above. the last time i rebooted it said "windows system error, object file not found". theree is a "ok button". if i click it..(amleft only with it! everything goes fine.. how do i get rid of that? what s the error signify?

pls help me out to resolve these issues!

follow the steps m8....
run > msconfig > startup > remove all entries except those related to antivirus

control panel > internet options > delete temp internet files, clear history

run ad-aware nd spybot. both of them can be found in www.download.com

run complete antivirus scan of the PC..

if all fails download hijackthis frm http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip nd post the log file....

hm..it seems that your machine is under some domain...and it is using Active Directory so all your settings and my documemts are being saved at main server i.e. at main domain...

to avoid this..

do this..

go to my computer..

tools - folder options - offline tab

uncheck enable offline files
uncheck synchronize file before loggin off

see if this helps or not..

@legolas: Take a look at these sites. I think this is what technoteen was talking about:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;313290
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;886844

First, try to use the shutdown.exe command from the Start>Run prompt and see if it shuts down properly via that. Next, see if you can shut down your computer normally from inside the safe mode. If it does, then some application is causing this problem when you try to shut it down. Take a look at this page for more information:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308029

OK, in that case, then its definitely a program that's preventing your computer from shutting down. First, make sure you close your network connection, logout/disconnect if you're using an authentication based broadband/dialup connection, make sure you close all browsers and download managers (some download managers minimize to the system tray if you click the close button) and then try shutting down Windows. If possible, use HJT (download here) and run it JUST before you shut it down so that we can take a look at the processes that are running when you try to shut the computer down. Post the log file back here and we will try and figure out what's preventing your computer from shutting down normally.

as per the log files thr some resource hungry services running behind.. just go to msconfig and del the startup appln tht r not needed and also u can go to control panel and administrative tools and services and thr u can c the services tht r running and the desc r also avail.. analyse wat r needed and disable others.. this makes ur startup and shutdown faster and also the performance inc..

do u have anything important stored in your hdd...this is an extreme drastic step...but if your system is still giving u problems and u r not able to fix it then maybe u could try formatting your system and reinstalling your system...install all windows updates a good antivirus program...and a firewall plus a spybot program...it's an extreme step but u can try it as a last step if all else fails...
