the only way to secure pc is my keeping password even though you created bios password you should tell him,so first create another user account to him under his name with limited permissions not an administrator, secondly make the data or folders which you think to be unview by everyone secure, using some folder locks or so many techniques are there for this, see my thread in forums where a technique of folder is visible to everyone but when double clicked nothing will be there inside and folder looks like recycle bin see all those tweaks in internet also

Well if you are so compromising, don't bother doing anything

Or simply, erase XP and run Linux (Or fart a flamethrower at your SMPS)

slap him, fight with him, give him electric shock, try to hypnotise him, tell him he annoys you,ask him to pay you for using your pc,tell him your mobo+processor went kaput and he will have to buy new ones if he want to use your pc.

Still need more suggestions?

Let's get this straight :

-- Your cousin wants to use the computer, you don't want him to.
-- If you set a password on anything, you'd have to tell him for the sake of family relations.
-- You don't want to touch the inside of your computer.
-- He's very successful at forcing things out of you.

wtf? Do you want to use the computer or not? If yes, you're going to have to toughen up and learn to keep a few secrets. If no...well then there's no point anyway.

There's no point in using linux any more than there is in using windows in this case if you'll tell him the root password, and even less sense in the matter if neither of you know how to use linux.

What a mess.

Transfer pc to some other secret room & tell ur cousin that u sold it.This will keep him away.Isn't useful if he comes to stay at ur home.

Sell your PC, and tell your cousin you sold it. It will definitely keep him away, and it's guaranteed to work even if he comes to stay at your home. The drawback is that in the absence of the computer, you may be tasked with occupying him, and from what I gather, you won't want to do that.

lolz... what questions.. what answers.. i'm amused!!

seriously, there's no better solution than being frank and explaining things to him! coz all the things you do are just temporary solutions. sooner or later they'll be breached and it'll be the same story again.

yeah,

Just switch off the button at the back of your cabinet. Whenever, he would try to start your comp, it won't and whenever you want to use just remember to put that button back on.

Also, keep saying that your computer is giving problems. It doesn't start up easily. I think there are probs with RAM or SMPS. Keep cribbing

I would say just let him use the computer after his work is done then do some mischief ( so windows can not start ) and then blame him for ur doings and make it very big issue saying hime u just crashed my pc now I have to reinstall os all my data has lost ,now I have to waste my 2-3 hours on it ,ur work is delayed and so.................. .Do it two-three times, ok he is very smart and........so do it 4-5 times and over he will never return to u.

if then too he return then just say no to him defining ur self that u allways crash my pc , u don't know how to use it , then it take my 2-3 hours so I am not going to let u use my computer .

never mind all the guys making fun of u.. tho the situation is really funny but i can somewhat relate to it.

the best option is to -

1. do a multiboot with a blank OS (linux, win98,winxp) such that u dont get the option to boot from or real OS in the boot up sequence. This can be done in may ways.
i) if u have two hdd then it can be changed from bios.
ii) if u have one hdd then use the active partition flag
iii) in case of one hdd Keep a 98/xp bootable disk and when u need to use the system boot using the disk and reset the active partition. in case of multiple hdd change it from the bios
->dont forget to password protect the bios with diff admin and user pass. if ur cousin asks then givethe user pass. he wont be able to change settigs then. if he protests just say u dont knwo what the prob is.

2. Add preventive methods
i) Use some utility to force a shutdown after 20-30 minutes of boot in the blank OS. u can alternatively set it up using even manager and shutdown command.
ii)do not install anything in the blank OS
iii)remove the default OS games too. i would remove notepad and mspaint too
iv) do more stuff like this

3. In ur blank OS use a limited a/c as default and disable the admin a/c. also create a odd name a/c like asppoweruser or winserviceuser etc with a heavy password. now only u know the a/c name and its pass and anyone seeing it wont easily guess that it is a proper a/c

4. In the blank OS(say XP) hide all ur partitions except the blank OS one. basically use software like folderlock or use mycomp> rightclick> manage> diskmanager> right click all partitions one by one and remove the drive letter. Now the normal non-admin user cannot view the partitions not can he change it in the drive manager.

5.The most important part for this elaborate setup to succeed is your acting! you have to behave dumb so that the other guys cant guess what u have done. u have to behave innocent and stupid.

Finish! The -The BlacKCoaT Operative- delivers one again

Gud ideas…Guys…………………..
Hey buddy….

You can change the settings in the BIOS and mk it “Boot From CD Rom” instead of “Boot From Hard Disk”……..

Make A Shortcut of this command and put it in the startup………..
%windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 3 -c "Your Computer is infected with serious virus. Pls switch off Your Computer"

A simple Solution:-
Your Cousin may be a kid who likes to play game or run some programs………..Delete the games……..or request him only to play Games only..….not to change the settings of the PC……Lock the C:\ ….D:\.......E:\.......and so on………Make a Folder in the desktop.......And add all the shortcuts of the games in that folder….……….Tell him coolly by giving a\ chocolates…..or anything he likes………Request him to play for a limited time……….otherwise Delete All the Games……Restrict each an every things…….i.e..
Restrict Display Properties:
Restrict right-click in Start Menu:
Restrict Taskbar Context Menu:
Restrict Users to enable New XP StartMenu:
Restrict Programs to run
Restrict Writing to USB Drives\ CD Rom
Restrict any Control Panel Applet in 2000/XP
Uncheck all the Start Menu Items like Run……Search…..etc…..
Restrict him to open My computer and Documents………..
And Act like a dumb……….As if U don’t know anything…………..

Tell Your Mom and ur aunt…..Computer is infected with a serious Virus and needs to be formatted……………………Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

And hey if u don’t want ur Mom to shout at u……then dont slap him!!!!!!!!!
