Default Centrino vs. Pentium

What drawbacks does a notebook with Pentium have?

Centrino is the processor for laptops. However, there are some laptops with pentium also available. Do they function properly or have a problem? Do they consume more power and therefore drain the batteries?

The latter half of what you said is true. The Centrino line of processors are optimized to be mobile. Hence ideal for laptops. The also give better performance since they have 2MB cache. Plus the Centrino is less taxing on the battery as compared to the Pentium series. Th pentiums function properly but the centrino's give longer battery life. Also the centrinos perform better due to the cache size.

well al being covered i just have this to say that the Pentium M processor is also being ported to the desktop
well there are news of mobos being available for it atleast !!
Pentium M is the Core Procesor in the centrino !
the centrino is the technology surrounding the processor including the Proccy, the wifi-b and the "M" part of it .. that is low energy consumption !

So if battery consumption is not an issue, I can opt for a cheaper model with Pentium?

more energy more heat dissipated !!
