Question Gaming PC - Need Help Choosing Parts.

I am looking forward to assemble my own PC.
I live in Mumbai. As far as i have heard Lamington Rd. (Forgive me if the spelling is wrong.) has the best deals in PC hardware.

The processor
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ / 2.4 GHz processor
[Manufacturing Process 90 nm
Cache Memory L2 1 MB ( 2 x 512 KB )
Features HyperTransport technology, AMD64 technology, integrated memory controller, Enhanced Virus Protection

Questions
1] I have heard that AMD is good for office work and not for gaming. How true is this?

2] I found this on a website. Its cost was listed as $168 (approx INR 8000).
Thats the price from other country. Is it 8k in India too?

3] Any better processor in the same price range?

Graphic Card
Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT
PALIT HD 2600XT Super 512MB

Questions
1] Which one is better? and Why?

2] How much will the cards cost?

3] I read on some forums that Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT will not work on a 400 watts SMPS and something about 28 volts on the red wire... (i really dont remember about the volts and the wire. if i find the website again i will edit this). again how much will the SMPS cost?

Other Stuff.
* Which Mother Board shall i go for? (Max upto Rs. 4k)
* RAM? (Max upto Rs. 5-6k)

I would appreciate if you could help me on anything.
Other Suggestion are also welcome.

I really dont want to mess up my PC. Plzzz Help.

Actually, the X2 4600+ should come to only about 4.5k... See http://www.deltapage.com/ for price reference... For motherboard, if you want onboard motherboard, ASUS M2A-VM will be your best bet for about 3.7k... For external graphics, you can try nVidia chipset based motherboards also...

Go for 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM of good brand like Kingston or Transcend or better still Corsair... If 800MHz RAM is out of your price range, go for 667MHz RAM...

if u can sspend 8k, get intel core 2 duo e6750. u shud go for nvidia gfx they are more optimized for games. hd 2600 costs round 7k. with that much buy xfx geforce 8600gt i assure u it wud be better. it is true ati gfx require lots of power. and a 400watts psu may enough. u can buy transcend 2x1gb ram@800mhz costing around 5k.if u can extend ur budget, the xfx 650i ulta mobo would be a really really nice choice

Thanks for replying guys.

Checking out the above link....

::EDITED::
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz
XFX 650i Ultra - Mother Board
2 GB DR-II 667 or 800 (Hopefully 800 mhz)
160 GB SATA-II
XFX 8600 GT 256MB

Again..... which is better between these three
- Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT
- PALIT HD 2600XT Super 512MB
- XFX 8600 GT 256MB

Still confused on the SMPS. >.<
Again i was googling and found that someone needed 600 watts psu to get it running
I remember reading some stuff on Power rating - (i will go through it tommorow. Time to sleep now ZzzzZZZzz.... *snore*)

Anyone knows some good dealers in Lamington Rd.?

Update :
Price estimate according to the guide was 29-30k
I queried some shops in Lamington Rd. and it turned out i can get em for 27k.

Still need help on smps. 500w or 600w ???
