There is nothing new in ps2 slim , same specs and performance but it has a slimmer design which looks cool.

@mario: the new slim PS2 is a redesigned PS2....they made it slimmer, added a network adapter...made the dvd drive top loading...and made it the slim version...i dont know where u r getting ur prices frm man...here, both versions cost the same $149...

Umm dont go for the slim, It has a lot of probs with mod chips and the lens. Get the 5004 series if u can still find it.

I personally own the Slim version and I am very, very happy with it. If you dont plan on playing online however, you can always go for the older model and save yourself some money. If you have a backed up game on DVD+R/RW, then if your PS2 is modded, you can use it to play your backed up games, yes.
