Default Is it true?


hi,
we've assembled a new pc with P IV 2.8 Ghz HT with original intel 915 mobo. While assembling the unit our hardware vendor said Ht series processor doesn't need thermal paste Is it true ?
Plz let me know as soon as possible coz i havent yet switched on my system t bcoz of that !

What he meens to say is that the orignal processor pack with the heatsink has heatsink/thermal past preapplied at the bottom of the heatsink This may be in the form of a thin thermal conductive strip at the bottom of (contact area) the heatsink. Thus no additional hetsink past is required. I too when i had installed my new p4 cpu did not apply additional heatsink compound as it was not required.
