How to backup ??

Hey friends I have no idea as to how do i backup my windows drive and restore it as and when required ? Currently I have installed all the neccessary software that i require on the windows drive. Tell me how will I backup the windows drive on a DVD and how will I be able to restore if my windows goes Kaput ???
Please help me out as i reinstall every 2 months. And i am tired of installing everything again and again

Use Acronis True Image. It will give you very good results.

at i need is to backup the windows directory and all the settings that will not account to more than 4Gb and hence will fit on a DVD

Um, I don't think simply copying the files would work well. Its better to record the image of the drive and then place it as you wish, anytime.

Well don't give me the best one for backup.. I am ignorant of the process guys.
I have seen some of them have just made some 1Gb images and are able to restore system to full throttle. And I think that they use Ghost for the purpose
