well i guess there is no way to check it without some device

generally theres nothing wrong

since u havent used it before chances are its working very well

if u r afraid that u buy a printer and it doesnt work, i wod suggest get hold of some cheap USB controllers like a gamepad, floppy drive, hdd, pen drive before buying a printer

i guess u can borrow that from somone near u and check it

Few years ago my computer vendor checked the USB port by using a USB scroll mouse and it was not working. Scroll mouse (with ball) don't work on my machine (don't know why ). I think i will have to check the port with some other USB device. thanks for help.
