Default RIAD help

I am planning to purchase a new hard disk and I was thinking of putting it in raid configuration with my existing hd.But I don't know much about RAID.My existing hd is WD 80gb sata 7200rpm.Do i need to buy hd with same capacity or company to enable raid?I was planning to buy a seagate 250gtb sata2.

And how do I confirm if my motherboard support RAID or not?

Duno much abt RAID but as far as i know both the HDD should be of same size and your old hdd may be SATA 1 .Now a days SATA 2 are easily available . So your old HDD will be bottleneck.

u can config ur HDDs in Raid only if their capacities match
so if u wan 2 setup a RAID config 4 ur HDDs u will have 2 buy another 80GB Hd if u insist on usin d older 1

and sinc u wan 2 use 2 HDDs u can arrabnge dem in

RAID 0 (speed)

or

RAID 1 (fault tolerence)

d bes way 2 check if ur mobo supports RAID config is 2 check out ur manual
