Default "Ntldr is missing"


I have winXP in my computer. when i boot my computer it gives such message. how to clear it?

hi m8, u just corrupted ur MBR.restart once ..if ur problem persists,use a bootable winxp cd to repair xp

Try to run rescue from boot cd..as suggested by blacklight
ntldr is xp boot loader as far as i know ... also ntldr.com and some dir called sys volume info..all these are considered important files and also hal.dll is a importnant file during boot

replace the file from the Xp install CD to the root folder
this will solve the problem

and please serach the forum, a lot of topics on this prob already posted!!

Get ur bootable CD running in Rescue mode and then repair the file (extract the file from the cd and restore it)

these guys are partially right

boot from ur winxp cd
goto the recovery console
and run fixboot and fixmbr commands at the prompt !
that should fix it

Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem without using boot cd ?. Tricky perhaps.

Yeah, you could probably copy the files in the i386 folder into the hard disk, and then use the winnt32 file to install the Recovery Console as a startup option and then go into the recovery console and run the commands theraven said. Works without a boot CD all right.
