Unable to Shut Down

hi everybody!!!

i m running windows Xp SP2 on my system, whenever i click on shut down tab from start menu my computer hangs nothing happens even Ctrl+Alt+Del doent work..........

Have u enabled fast shutdown and when u shutdown does the screen go blank freezes?

u dint mention wat did u do b4 d problem occured so i'm assumin dat ur comp fine, but slow [misunderstood 4 not workin]

how long do u wait b4 decidin it is not shuttin down?

check how many services u got runnin

if u got lotsa services runnin, den disable d 1s dat u dont need, den ur shutdown time shud reduce

if u dont wan2 disable dem den after givin d shutdown command, wait 4 around 5 mins atlest [just 2 b sure] 4 d comp 2 shut down

^^ Dont do that, your Hard Disk might crash someday and youll lose all your data.
If it does not shut down then try hibernate for the time being until somebody posts a solution.

r u sure SP2 is installed in ur comp? try re-installing d SP2

do u have ne USB devices attached 2 ur computer wen u face dis problem [it also includes ne usb mouse or keyboard]?

u mite wan 2 have look @ THIS

may be ur hardware part is corrupted...

better u reinstall the OS

Fast Shutdown is only for Windows 9x series not XP/2000/NT.
