how to boost net speed

hi
first, how can i find out that at what speed am i getting?
in the taskmanager>networking the lan is connected at 100mbps & the network utilization is only 1% in my happiest hrs
is there anything i can do to boost my net speed

Well download something from www.microsoft.com and the speed u getting while downloading it (KBps) is your download speed and then multiply it with 8that is ur internet speed which would be in kbps. BTW which isp u using?

using bsnl 2mbps plan in taskmanager>networking i get display that my lan card & net connection has connectivity of 100mbps & utilisation never crosses 1 % on avg its .5%

to know what exact internet speed you are getiing.Close all program...explorer,torrent,download manager..and others.Exit all program from tray bar(bottom right)..like yahoo messenger,gtalk and other...but let antivirus be there.
Than test your speed through speed meter available on many site like.
