Wink Can i use TV instead of monitor, atleast for sometime ;)

I wonder whether is it possible to give the output of my pc to the TV instead of the monitor. It would be real fun to watch dvd quality movies on a 21inch screen than on a 14inch monitor.

I own an AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.0 GHz mounted on a Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9 motherboard with 512 MB Transcend DDR400 RAM.

The motherboard has onboard nVidia GeForce 6100 graphics. Will it be of any help?

Code:
Back Panel Connectors PS/2 Keyboard/ Mouse
             1 x VGA port
             1 x LPT port
             4 x USB 2.0/1.1 ports
             1 x RJ45 port
             1 x IEEE1394 port
             Audio (4 x Line-out/ 1 x Line-in/ 1 x MIC) connectors
Link

I dont see any TV/S-Video Out on your motherboard so I think the only option for you is to go for a GFX card.

these days almost all GFX cards comes with TV out feature, right from low end GFX to high GFX cards, But when buying make sure you have the right connector cable bundled, like S-Video to composite or S-Video to Component convertor (i f you have that on your TV )

Arrow Re: Can i use TV instead of monitor, atleast for sometime ;)

Thanx. By the way, has anybody actually tried this. Because i think the picture quality will depend on the video card. Also as the dpi of the TV is less than that of a pc monitor, the picture quality will be low. Please correct me if i am wrong.

The picture quality sucks! And it will still be an understatement.
I mean if your TV is Kind of Crt its not at all worth it ..
You cant read mail's , the video quality is no good, no matter how great the card.
However if you happen to be one of those good fortuned soul who own a LCD tv with Hdmi port , nothing but Bliss is the word..
Please go out for such setup and bathe in its glory.

Just asking out of curiosity, does this have anything to do with the dpi thing that i mentioned???

I think a better option would be to get a nice 19inch widescreen monitor .....lol.......

Hey guys, one of my friends has an ASUS M2NPV-VM.

Any idea if that can be connected to a TV
