Default Adding A Harddrive Will Affect The Performance ?

My System Ic Compaq Presario 1105il (amd Athlon Xp 2400+) With 40 Gb Hard Drive. Now I Want To Add One More Harddrive As Slave With
160 Gb Capacity. Will It Affect The Performance Of The System Or Affect The Cooling Effect Of The System? Why I Am Asking This Question Is The System Is A Branded One And Came With One 40 Gb Harddisk Only.

i added a new 80GB HD as slave to a 3 and a half yr old 20GB HD. (both seagate) and within a month the 20GB HD crashed. maybe some one can enlighten me as to why it could have happened?

Sometimes computers behave funny. Last time I added a HDD my PC became fast.

It will degrade the performance slightly but nothing to worry.
1. There will be a lttle more power consumption
2. Little more heat

This should not be an isssue. Go on with ur space enhncement.
