Default Date Shredding / Erasing ???

Hi Guys!

I need a file shredding software with the hepl of which I can permenantly delete unwanted files and folders. The software should also have an option to overwrite all unused space in the disk so that if by chance some files gets deleted normally, it still can be overwritten this way. Moreover, this feature will help again in clearing the swap content of the system.

I have tried two shredding softwares. 1st being a part of Tuneup Utilities 2007, but the problem here is that there is no option for overwriting free disk space.

2nd software I used is called Eraser. Although this software has the option of overwriting unused space, I tried this option in one of my disks, but unfortunately didnt find this feature to be so effective as I still could recover some data using a recovery software called "Recover My Files".

Please recommend me a software which is really strong and recovery wont be possible after erasing with it.

Thank you.

Thats right, I mean when we delete a file, its deleted from FAT but the contents is still on the disk which can always be recovered. When we overwrite all disk free space, the data on the disk actually gets destroyed and thus becomes impossible to recover.

d00d in Eraser if u go 2 d preference option u will find dis window 2 select how many passes 2 make while erasing files.

if u select d Gutmann option then it wud make 35 passes over d file 2 b erased.

if u already selected dis option but still not satisfied wid d results then u cud click on d New button 2 configure ur own ease parameters with more no of passes

btw do u really recover d full file dat was ersed 'caused i 2 tried recovering files using PC File Recovery Inspector and although it did show d file, but also mentioned dat d condition was poor
wen i went ahead wid d recover d files showed all garbled symbols with not a single english letter 2 b seen

Try out Simple File Shredder frm

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-16563.html

It can shred free space as well as history, cookies ,cache of IE and Firefox plus windows recent documents, recycle bin and temp files. And it is freeware.

Use TuneUP utilities 2007 software...It offers great options to tweak your system...Shredding is one of them and it offers to overwrite or delete allocated free space, so I think its the best for it.
