Increase the clarity of WMV format movies

Dear friend i have downloaded some movies and vido clips all are in WMV format (may be to reduce the size they compressed to WMV format) but the clarity is very poor please any body suggest good software or technique to improve the clarity of the WMV files

as data is compressed it will lose some data...and in video format...some frames are dropped and colors and resolution are reduced.....
go for VLC player because it has many aspect ratio to select so go for better one you like.....

I tried with VLC player also but that is not helping me to increase the clarity
