Default commmon port problem in UPS service options(in power options


in my winxp (in power options..in UPS configuration) there is an option to specify the common port for UPS..but in my PC it is disabled..

and because of that i am not able to configure UPS options...

.earlier it was working fine...but after i installed SP2..it stopped working(this is what happened i think)....

i have APC UPS...so any idea what must had happened..and what is the solution for this

Didn't you already ask this question elsewhere? Check the port status in Device Manager to see if there is a problem. Ensure that no other program is currently using the COM (usually COM1) port and that its enabled. Open Device Manager, go to Ports (COM and LPT) and select Communications (not common) port 1 and under the Port Settings page, click Restore Defaults, and see what happens. Also, stop and restart the UPS services from the Services tool. (Accessed by typing in services.msc in Start>Run)
