Coneccting Comps

I HAVE two computers in my home want to connect them via LAN
but the problem is I DONT KNOW HOW TO CONNECT.
i got the lan cable i want two of my computers to play multiplayer games in two of my computers (can i play??).I have net on 1 pc want to share that connection toooo. plzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me

U can use the RJ-45 cable it shd be crimped ie shd have the plugs on
put it in the ethernet/RJ-45 jack of both the comps
and yes u can play games on both the comps via LAN until and unless the games are compatiable

Those rj45 cat-5(6) cable should be cross crimped if u are connecting directly to 2 PCs.

dont make mistake in climping.And if you are going to connect through LAN/swtch than climping should be striaght.

hey azzu,

just check on both the PC's whether or not the LAN Connection is Enabled...
Go to My Network Places->View Network connections->Right click your Network Connection->Select Enable(If it is disabled)

Hope it solves your probs...

its enabled but it still shows that LOCAL AREA CONNECTION a network cable is unplugged

Are you sure about the crimping ?
In a cross cable the pin formation should be like this.1 against 3 and 2 against 8 and so on

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
3 8 1 4 5 6 7 2

In a straight cable it should be like this

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Check and revert back

where did u get the cable from? if u got it crimped in a shop...go ask the person to check if it is cross crimped.

here top row is the numbering of the small wires in the cable, and the bottom row is the numbering of the holes in the connector.

if u have bought a readymade one, then i suppose you have got a straight cable and not a crossover one.. check it out dude...

yes i got the cable from a shop he cutted the cable and putted the wires in to the clip and pressed usin some thin like cuttin player its a straight wire

That cutting player is called a crimping tool. Go to him and ask if the crimping he has done is cross wired or straight (crimping is nothing but doing the pressing thing using the crimping tool to bind the pins in teh connector(the plastic thing) to the small wires).....you need a cross wired cable to connect two pCs directly.

cross crimping is used to connect similar devices (PC to PC).
And Straight crimping is for dissimilar devices (PC to Switch)
