Some more Domain Problem.......?

My friend register a domain name a year back for 4 years
He dont know from where he has registered his domain
In the whois my friends name appear but i can understand from where to find the registration source

Now he need to make his website
& the Software guy who has registered has ran away
Now he cannot contact him
what can be the way to use that domain

Pls help...........

Also Need a Good Webhosting for 1 year
& if cheaper than for 5 years
