It usually helps you to use a filter so that you can restrict some IPs to connect with you. Some Companies like RIAA or MPAA try to catch people who download and upload copyrighted stuffs by connecting to them using torrent clients pretending that they are downloading or seeding. To stop them it is used. But in India you dont need to worry much even if you download illegal stuffs.
