Exclamation Sata + IDE = Will it work? + DVD RW suggestion.

Hi guys..

1)I wanted to know whether it is possible to run a SATA hard-drive and IDE DVD/CD read-write device simultabeously on same mobo..

I am actually to buy a new mobo but after sometime. But I urgently need to have a DVD RW. SO IDE is the only option for me.. Then if I switch to the new system will there be place for IDE with SATA ports?

2)Also I found Sony DRU170C as a suggestion from my friend.. Any other choice to buy a DVD RW?

Liteon LH-20A1P.
After some months Ide will be replaced by sata, but it's still a long time to go.

ya i guess both will work as the new mobos have not completely abandoned IDE. So you can n\connect ur HDD to SATA and DVD-RW to IDE.

a IDE Seagate HDD 80 GB > Primary Master
a IDE Sone DVD Writer > Secondary Master
Works Like a Charm..
All the best.

1)Is there really no problem in running both hard disks simultaneously?
2)Which sony DVD writer are you using ?

Really there is no problem...
I hv also used Two IDE Hdds
1 as Primary Master
and the other as Secondary Master.
While I had a CD-Writer and used that as Primary Slave.

Then also it worked like a charm! That was my old machine

Now that I hv said abt my new rig...

Only thing taken into account is ur SMPS must be capable of supplying power to an Xtra 2nd HDD ... in most cases newer SMPS have a rating oif 400+ Watts.. so no problem shud be there
My DVD Writer is :
SONY DVD RW DW-Q30A ...
