Can you escape this?

WinXP system attacked by some virus I suppose
This problem was actually faced by my frnd. So, I'm trying to retell the prob as he told me...

I was using Windows XP Professional. The system got attacked by some virus I suppose, coz it restarted unusually. Ok, now the real prob, I tried to reinstall windows but found that my WinXP CD is corrupted. The setup failed once, and now its not starting. Even windows's [SAFE MODE ALSO] not starting. I dont want to format the HDDs. I dont have n e other WinXP CD or Win98 CD or n e other OS. The HDFS is NTFS. Now, plz help me escape this...

setup not starting...means???? whats the exact error message during installation...nd at what stage the installation stops or gives the error message????
nd whatever the error message without a proper windows XP CD u wont be able to reinstall/repair the OS without formatting... :roll:

try a repair install
boot from the cd
skip the first screen where it asks to press r
in the next screen it'll show u previously installed windows
select that and repair
