Question What are .MDF and .MDS files?

Hi! Can you tell me what these extensions stand for? My friend dowloaded some software which have these extensions (I am almost sure that they are .MDF and .MDS) Plz tell me what to do with them... If they are used to write on to CDs or some form of archives, plz tell me the procedure to work with them or the softwares needed..

the MDF file is the main file conatining the image of the Cd/DVD in binary format , n the MDS file stores information about the corresponding MDF file .

the MDF file will work perfectly fine even without the MDS , though Alcohol uses the MDS file to store come extra info .

.MDF means .MDS means

.mds is a file extension for a small file associated with a .mdf disk image, used by programs such as alcohol 120% and DAEMON Tools
