Coverting mkv to avi

Has anybody succesfully converted the mkv file to avi file,
I have few mkv files which has video in H.264 format.
Any Success using VirtualdubMod ...?

Try freeware Super Converter. It might solve your problems.

I have done it, SUPER can do it real fine

I have been using VirtualDub and Actually quite efficiently over last 1 year and I am very much comfortable with it,
What I wanted somehow to get the stream outputs from the .mkv file so that I can encode with my own options to "AVI" using XVID VFW codec.
I am not having success in That.

Though Will try Super Converter.

well here is your thing , Follow the steps exactly :

1. Download a copy of Media Player Classic
2. Run Media Player Classic
3. GO to File -> Utils -> DSM Converter
4. Drag the file u wanna split into streams into the window that opens
5. Now it will show u a list of all the streams(audio/video/subtitle/chapters/etc) present in the file
6. Right click the stream u want to extract n select Demux
7. Now select the location where you want to save ur demus\xed stream n u're done.
8. Repeat from step 6 for all streams that u want to extract
