Localhost........?

I have learnet to make localhost in your own computer sometime before
but now i have forget it
Can someone pls tell me how to create Localhost
i.e.
if i copy some html files like index.html in that root folder & run http://localhost/ than that html file will open directly

I remember a little that it should be made by going to Administrative Tools in Windows XP

You need to have a web server (IIS or Apache) running on your PC for it.

Best way would be to install EasyPHP on your PC

If you use Opera, input http://localhost/(Drive Letter)/file.html

Ex. http://localhost/C:/index.html

It works. Dont ask me anything more coz i am a linux user.

Download EasyPHP from Easyphp.org. You will see download dialog...ssave to Desktop. Double click the file you downloaded...click NEXT NEXT Finish.

Thats the procedure

Run EasyPHP and right click on EasyPHP tray icon. Select Localhost
